Web Developer (Ruby, PHP, Java)
We are seeking a Web Developer with a desire to implement websites and applications that are highly designed, extremely useable and utilize the web to its fullest extent. The work includes software development for community creation, ecommerce, content and user management, portals, intranets and media integration.
Status – Full-time with benefits (or possible freelance)
Reports to – Technical Director
Salary – Based on experience
Location – New York City or Paris
Primary responsibilities:
- Prototyping, unit design
- Programming, testing, bug fixing, deployment
- Code documentation
- Scheduling development timelines with other developers and architects
- Participation in requirements, specification, design, estimation and specification documentation – depending on individual skills.
Required skills:
- 3+ years experience with web development and CMS.
- Deep understanding of Internet architecture (network protocols,
authentication mechanisms, encryption, etc.)
- Fluency in at least two of the following languages: PHP, Ruby, Java
- Fluency in SQL with at least two databases
- Thorough understanding of MVC patterns
- Thorough understanding of object-oriented design and implementation
methodologies. Experience with ORM systems a plus
- Understanding of CSS, ability to code Javascript/DHTML as needed
- Understanding of XML and related technologies
- A keen eye for pixel accuracy and a hardcore desire to implement tight designs
Desired skills:
- AJAX development experience
- System/network administration background
- Experience with developing eCommerce apps
- Experience with developing web services
