Biography
Sébastien Tran
Sebastien has 5 years of experience as an interface developer. His web career started as an application developer for l’Assemblée Nationale (French National Assembly), then as a software developer for investment banks such as the Société Générale.
Prior to joining AREA 17, he had worked for 2 years as a User Experience and Interactive Designer at the International Herald Tribune in Paris. There, he was deeply involved with key projects, including the development of the iPhone optimized version of the website, redesign of the IHT arts events guide and its dedicated publishing tool and special events coverage (2008 US Elections, fashion weeks, etc.).
When the IHT decided to close shop in Paris and merge with the New York Times, Sebastien was left with a choice — move to New York City to work for the New York Times or stay in Paris. Most Frenchie’s would have chosen NYC. He didn’t want to leave beloved Paris … so instead he choose to work for a company (ahem, AREA 17) in Paris and NYC. Smart.
Sebastien has been known to trigger tears of joy in designers after seeing their designs come to life. But the one thing that surpasses his charmed code is his vietnamese fondue. If you can, become his friend and convince him to invite you over for dinner. It may take a few years, but it’s worth it.
