As you may know, we’ve been working for Giant Step since way back when — launching their community website, jukebox, DJ/Tastemaker extranet, 15-year anniversary mini-site and much more.
Founded in 1990, Giant Step is an internationally respected icon of funk and groove. Today, they are a music and lifestyle marketing company and a leading concert promoter in New York City.
This time around Giant Step hired AREA 17 to rethink their popular website jukebox (that we built in 2003) with a few more bells, a couple of other whistles and more horn than your parents’ parents might care for.
Rebuilt from the ground up, the new jukebox has an updated user interface and more features such as auto-generated playlists, ratings and a new channels section with long-play radio shows. Additionally, we’ve added photo and video galleries to enhance the listening experience.
The jukebox itself is re-skinable and has what we call a “feature player” that allows Giant Step to create a stand-alone branded player that can be syndicated to other websites.
The feature player allows Giant Step to create custom music experiences for specific events, partners and brands — the perfect viral tool for a company that specializes in music lifestyle.
