Deadlines are OK
It’s been a busy year for our interactive agency
As you may have noticed, we’ve been quite sporadic with our website updates. Sometimes even making promises that this, that or the other will be coming soon, only for it to surface much later. It’s with good reason, I tell you. You see, with our clients, we don’t let deadlines slip and my oh my this has been a year full of them (deadlines that is).
Back in the day a “deadline” was a line around a military prison beyond which a prisoner may not go
Did you know that back in the day a “deadline” was a line around a military prison beyond which a prisoner may not go without risk of being shot? Did you also know that “OK” is a term used after a military battle that means “zero killed”? American Civil War references, I reckon.
Well, I stand here to tell you that after all the battles of the last year, all is OK. We met our deadlines without any of our prisoners… er, team members shot dead and all of our clients were celebrating victory and chanting songs of glory (well, maybe I exaggerate a little).
So what’s been going on you may ask?
Just last week we launched a website for our friends at Vice — motherboard.tv, a UGC website that celebrates the diversity and eclecticism of the culture that surrounds technology. We also did the Motherboard Brand that launched back in April.
Earlier this summer we helped Vice relaunched vbs.tv, a massive undertaking of an already successful, high-traffic website. The stakes were high and we are proud to say that in the first couple of months, traffic has increased significantly.
A year in the making, last month we relaunched burdastyle.com, a leading online sewing destination and the only UGC platform around sewing patterns. If you don’t know about this website, do visit. It’s super addictive and the community is warm and welcoming. We also did their new visual identity.
Last summer we were hired by MTV to design the visual identity for ALLI — Alliance of Action Sports. It was truly gratifying creating the visual identity for such a prolific brand and see it propagated across so many mediums.
In conjunction, we designed allisports.com. Soon after, ALLI brought us in to create the new visual identity for their Dew Tour, the largest action sports tour in the world.
We’ve been working with AOL for many years, helping them redesign all of their entertainment websites (three of which became #1 in traffic soon after launch, including music.aol.com).
Last summer AOL came to us with a great project — to create a mashup between JamBase, Mapquest, TicketMaster and AOL Music. But here’s the kicker, they didn’t want us to design it, just develop it. We were game as we have much respect for the design team at AOL. The final result — tourtracker.com, now the #1 trafficked website for tour information.
And just to cap it off, you might have seen in our portfolio that we launched creative-capital.org and humanityunited.org, two forward-thinking NPO’s that are pushing the boundaries in their area of focus.
But wait, that’s not all! On the European side…
We recently launched studiohari.com for our friends and ex-office-mates in Paris. You may know them from their 3-D animated TV series called “The Owl” (La Chouette) which is currently showing in 200 countries (yes more countries then even the UN acknowledges).
And though we can’t show you, we designed an ecommerce extranet for Antalis to sell paper to printers (and the like) all over the world. Who said the Internet was bad for paper?
Did you also know that ‘OK’ is a term used after a military battle that means ‘zero killed’
Another we can’t show you is a website we did for Canal+ Presse — a comprehensive press website that supports all of their channels and allows the user to intersect cross-channel content by “themes”.
Canal+ also hired us for two other major projects — one that we can tell you about in a few days and another in a few months.
Last but not least, we designed a new media and publishing brand for the French-speaking LGBT community called YAGG
Oh, and if you didn’t notice … we launched a brand-spanking new area17.com with a few fancy features.
That sums it up.
I hope your last year has been OK as well.
